Ties that Bind

I remember dreams of living forever 

now I live a life I don’t want to remember.

Out of sync with the world, feeling a need to disengage,

I’m not one to conform, feeling torn,  why do I have to change?

Pressure builds to fit the mold, to break away from the old way,

Struggles buried deep inside, mouths shut from what to say

I want to sever every tie that binds,

Break these chains and free my mind.

Reject the forces that render me,

To embrace the truth and let me be.

Walking through the crowded streets, yet so alone inside,

No ETs out there the real aliens are you and I

Searching for my own path, away from the storm,

The defiance burns to ignite my soul, and live the life I was born. 

No more masks, no more lies, let the real me breathe,

I refuse the shackles of capital greed .

In the quiet of my heart, I’ll find my own way,

Alienation fades as we see we’re the same.

True to myself, no longer confined,

I find my purpose begin to align
